Disposal - Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

HHW storage bin

South West Solid Waste now has a permanent HHW Depot at the Hemlock Knoll Landfill Site in Lawrence Station. This depot facilitates the disposal of hazardous items from your homes in an environmentally friendly manner, without any cost to the homeowner.

Are you aware that each year, on the average, every household disposes of 20 to 40 kilograms of household hazardous waste improperly?

What you have to do:

  • Please contact us.
  • Please do not mix HHW products.
  • Items should be delivered to the HHW depot in their original containers.
  • Properly secure and transport HHW containers in an upright position.
  • Upon arrival at the landfill report to the office scale operator that you are delivering HHW. The scale operator will notify the employees that a vehicle will be arriving at the depot
  • You will then be directed to the HHW depot where we will remove the HHW items from your vehicle.
